Dance Camp 2011

Jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, tap, acro and musical theatre.

The Dance Scene is welcoming students with and without experience to attend fun and high-energy summer dance classes

Recreational Camp (July 18 - July 22)
The Dance Scene offers a high-energy dance camp for ages 4 to 12. Campers will experience a variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet, acro, musical theatre and hip hop. Camp will also include fun-filled activities and games. Throughout the week, campers will learn a dance that will be performed for parents at the end of the week.

Competitive Camp (August 22 - August 26)
Interested in The Dance Scene’s competitive team? Come try it out at our competitive dance camp! Campers will experience various dance styles as well as learn technique, strength and stamina. A great way to jumpstart your fall dance season. This camp is mandatory for any student wishing to audition for The Dance Scene’s competitive team.

Programs for beginners to experienced dancers

Students have the option of taking recreational dance classes or audition to join our competitive team.

Teachers are selected from highly-acclaimed university dance programs or have comprehensive commercial dance experience.

This professional program will provide the opportunity to prepare students for university dance programs, dance competitions or auditions.

The competitive dance team will experience life as a professional dancer, touring and performing at various events, venues and competitions throughout Ontario.

styles of dance offered

Jazz: an expressive and lively dance discipline combining contemporary moves and current music trends. Dancers can expect to develop coordination, musicality, flexibility and strength.

Ballet: the foundation of dance that focuses on strength, poise, grace, discipline and self-confidence.

Hip-Hop: popular dance that encourages dancers to really let loose.

Lyrical/Contemporary: movement that can be fluid and classical like ballet but still have the sharp, funky movement of jazz. This form of dance is expressive and tells a story by portraying an emotion through movement.

Acro: unique form of dance that is a combination of both dance and gymnastics. This form of dance focuses on dance technique, flexibility, strength and control.

Tap: teaches students to listen and create music with their feet. Tap is high energy and great for any dancer.

Dancer's level and age range

Mini/Predance: ages 3 to 5

Junior: ages 9 to 11

Pre Junior: ages 6 to 8

Intermediate/Senior: ages 12 to 18

Competitive Dance

Being a competitive dancer at the Dance Scene is for the dedicated dancer. Students will learn technique, structure and performance.

Recreational Dance

The recreational dancer focuses on having fun and being active as well as learning technique and performance.
